New Starting Location - Hazel Light Rail Station parking lot (just past the Nimbus Winery on the opposite side of Folsom Blvd.). Changed due to activities at the Aquatic Center and local construction.

Back by popular demand - truly a beginner or novice dirt ride. If you have only ridden your mountain bike a few times, this is the ride for you. The ride will begin at the Fish Hatchery and go along the east side of Lake Natoma along the dirt trails up to Folsom. The trails are mostly dirt, with some pavement. No long climbs - all the hills are short and not very high. It is a great place to start learning some shifting and braking skills in the dirt. Total ride length is 10 miles (5 miles up and 5 miles back). Ride will take about 2 hours with rests stops as needed along the way. We will have a quick rest break at Karen's Bakery at the halfway point.

We will meetup at 12:30 and be ready to roll at 12:45.

Please bring a bike in good working order. This trail is also acceptable for hybrid bikes, in case you do not have a mountain bike. We can hit Starbucks after the ride if anyone wants to.

Helmets are required for this ride and bring water. Also suggested you dress for the weather (warmly and wear full fingered gloves as well). HEAT, RAIN, TORNADOES, FLOODS, SNOW, WIND, SLEET, OR HAIL WILL CANCEL THIS RIDE.

If you have any questions please call Terry at [masked].

Thanks Phred. I'll ride to marker 24 and back track from there. If I miss the group, I'll catch you all another time.

Albert, I do not think the ride actually starts at the Fish Hatchery. In times past it did, however, now they start at the Literail parking lot, and drop onto the trail east of the Aquatic Center near mile marker 24 of the ARBT.

Nice slower paced ride. Great weather and the trail had just enough mud to make it fun. haha Thx to the two hotties (Adrienne and Terry) for leading this ride.

I thought I knew the way and "zigged" when I should've "zagged"...there was a low hanging tree limb that Lisa S. shouted out just after a near miss...I ducked, but, it managed to snag my backpack! stopped me; I had to be unhooked by the rider behind me. Aside from that, it was a good ride. The weather was absolutely beautiful....the mud was slippery, but that isn't what caused me to fall... Enjoyed the company; new and "old". I especially liked Kathy's new Mountain bike.
