My truck is now full of carpoolers. However, we can work out the carpool details to spread the fun. I can take more bikes and gear, but not people. We still have plenty of time to work out the logistics though.
As of 17 MARCH the MBO was half full. Still time to register if you were considering going. Get your camp gear and beer mugs ready. Oh yea you may want to bring your bike. Or just demo one of the many bikes they will have. http://www.mtbikeoregon.com/mbo_exhibitors.php![]()

It says $299 on the registration page http://www.orbike.com/servlet/com.gcm.servlet.shop.EventR...![]()
Is there a different price / sign up through Hammerin' Wheels or is that a typo?
Phred is the authority on MBO. When he has a chance, he will add to this link. The price is $299 and changes as the months go by ie more expensive. ALL food, drink, camping, and some shuttles are included.
No special HW pricing. Nate is correct. The price goes up as an incentive to get folks to sign up early. I believe $299 is the top. Not sure how many slots are left as the limit the number of folks to around 280. It is based on the land use permit from the Forest Service.
As of yesterday (May 17) 30 spots left. Once they are gone.............
Word from Terry today was that 20 spots remained. On Monday, there will be a push to get them filled.
Looks like we will have a fun group. When the event is sold out, I will get a listing of all those going and we can start planning the carpools and what not. Gonna be a fun time in the woods this July.
I have been informed that someone has a birthday in July. Perhaps we can celebrate their day of birth a week early. No candles as the fire danger is high. :o)
Kevin - lots of folks have had the same issue. Not sure what the deal is but they eventually were able to go thru on line. I had the same problem a few months back. Keep trying or like you plan, call on Monday. Hope you get a slot.
Like my new RSVP says, I managed to get myself signed up despite the totally uncooperative website! I wasnt sure about that optional ride for $30 thing so I waited until I could be advised by someone in here, if its something not to be missed I will go back and sign up for it.
Sounds like the carpool thing will be addressed once we know who all is going for sure. I am up for carpooling with someone if we can work it out though.
Last year a couple of friends rode the Middle Fork on a tandem and had a blast. I have riden the Alpine a few times (started to head out to Tire Mtn Combo once but was turned around due to friends issues). They felt the extra cost was worth it. You are gone most of the day. The other rides are 3-6 hours. I think Middle Fork is like 8 hours (including shuttle trips). I guess you can purchase now, and if you change you mind, scalp your seat.
And yes once it is sold out I will ask for all registerd folks to send me their email contact info and try to get all who want to carpool shared info.
Sharel, did you find the handlebar tassels you were looking for?????
Phred, I've got them on order at Mad Cat....too cute, just way too cute.
I noticed dogs are allowed -- I'm having trouble finding a weekend home for mine -- is anyone else bringing a dog or does anyone else have advice or experience about dogs there? Thx
Phred....is there any poison oak in this area??
Lezley, I have no experience with dogs at MBO. I do recall a couple of dogs in camp, but do not recall any on the rides. I suggest you call or email Randy Dreiling - Owner - Oregon Adventures www.oregon-adventures.com
Nate - yes there is PO there. There seemed to be little patches here and there along Alpine. However, it was heavier along the creek trails just upstream of camp. I did not catch it last year. Soap and water after each ride was my routine.
Dogs on rides? Frightening!! No, I'd leae her at camp, but PO and all, I think I'll find another option. Thanks anyway.
Lezley, if it makes any difference, I used dish soap and the cold (make that friggin cold) river. :o)
All, Steve Sprague was one of the guides last year. And I suspect he will be this year as well. If you have any specific questions of the trails, he is a good source of info.
Hey, please ask any questions. I'll be up there during the week before.
>PO=Yes. I got some big time when I was up there 2 weeks ago. Just finished up the med's that cleared it up. It's very green up there and it all blends in. Some PO was even red, which I thought was odd.
>Kevin G. The additional ride is Middle Fork Trail (MFT). I highly recommend it if you like a point to point ride. There is an option to add more mileage. It's "mostly" down stream. Well worth it.
Steve - I rode Alpine twice last year (yea it was so much fun I did it twice). This year I am looking at Alpine/Tire Mtn/Winberry combo. Any input in terms of difficulty (similar/a lot more difficult/etc.). Thx.
Hi Phred,
The Alpine/Tire/Winberry (ATW) is more demanding than Alpine with its multitude of singletrack climbing. The downhils are ripping! After ascending Tire, it's kinda tough at the beginning then you get in a groove. The dh part is fast with exposure. Winberry has some steep switchback climbs but I think they are avoiding a section which will keep your stomach where it belongs and not in your throat. I really like the ATW. You'll be ready for the beer garden afterwards! Do it!
Lezley - there is a suggested packing list on the MBO web sight. I have started a list and was going to post it in the file section tonight.
Sample Packing List MBO 2010 file has been uploaded under the "More", "Files" tab at the top of the site (next to the "Message Board" tab).
Hey all, I'll be leaving for Oakridge on Friday the 9th and will be out of touch until the 19th. If you have questions please post comments to this forum or email me off list. I'd be happy to offer ride recommendations or a schedule or rides to suit your abilities.
I look forward to seeing you all at MBO!
Steve
As you are aware, there is no food provided by MBO on Thursday. So I have taken the liberty of making reservations at Lee?s Gardens under my name. Time is 7:00 Thursday ? July 15th. Address is 47670 Hwy 58, Oakridge, OR. Phone is 541-782-2155. Jeff Lee will be making a meal for us instead of ordering off the menu. Are there any requests? Anything you do not want or are allergic to? My target price will be about $15. Too high? Let me know.
works for me, brother. By the way, I've got a friend who lives locally and will be joining us. Please include her in your count to Mr. Lee. Thanks!
Unfortunately, a situation has come up which makes it nearly impossible for me to attend MBO. It is sold out and am regretfully offering up my ticket for sale to anyone who wants to go. Price is negotiable. If you know of anyone who might be interested please have them contact me at 916 749-8900. Thanks, Anthony Martello
Uh oh - PS and KO - Roadies meet Mtn Bikers. We may have to tone it down a little for the roadies. haha
Actually, not Roadies, but "Softies". We're credit card camping at the nearby No-tell Motel. You can just party hardy after we leave for the night. We'll think about you every time that we plop down on a nice bed or take a warm shower! lol
Beds and showers are over rated. Well, that is my story for now. :o)
Seems like we are all set with the trip and ride details ironed out. Looks like we are set for about 15 for dinner on Thurday as well. Fund times ahead for next weekend. woo hoo!!!
Hi all MBO'ers. I'm looking for a car passenger. I'm leaving Bay Area (Berkeley) at around Noon on Thursday. Anybody want to car pool? I'm also happy to ride with you.
Just got off the phone with Lee's Gourmet Garden in Oakridge. Dinner reservations are for 6:00pm, and cost is $15.00 per person plus tip. I have requested several vegetarian dishes be prepared for those of you who may want meatless options. I changed the time because of the rider meeting at 8:30pm back at the camp area. If you have any questions please call me at 916-747-8651. Otherwise, lets have some fun in the dirt!!!
Will, I have space for two more bikes and riders, so if you want one you got it. Last year I went up on Thursday (left around 7, arrived about 3:30). The return I crashed at a friends house Sunday nite in Klamath Falls, and got an early start Monday morning. I plan on doing something similar, although we may want to discuss the return trip. It would be late Sunday, as the Sunday rides end about 3pm.
Now I have to get a new tent. My orange pup-tent was not a chick magnet, thats for sure.
