May Moab, UT Trip - Recon Meeting # 1

Round Table Pizza (map)

Selected By: Bryan

Our May 8th - 14th Moab, Utah mountain bike trip is just over 3-months away!!!! Note - It's up to you whether you go for the entire trip, less days, or more days.

See the below thread and calendared event info below @ http://mtb.hammerinwh...

This will be the first of one or two more meetings we'll have prior to the trip. You should attend this meeting if you plan on going or are just thinking about going.

If you're going on this trip or thinking about it - when RSVPing for this meeting, please indicate if you're looking to rideshare and/or cabin/tent/?? share.

The meeting will allow us to discuss the trip and get to know each other better (for people newer to the group). Those considering carpooling or cabin/tent sharing will be able to talk/meet with others to help determine expectations and compatibility, etc.

Over pizza and drinks, we'll also discuss the following (among other things):

* Travel plans/carpooling/caravaning
* Travel Route
* Travel safety and communications
* accommodations in Moab
* Daily activity ideas (MTBing, River Rafting, Hiking, etc.)
* Meals/BBQ's/Night Life
* Bike and equipment suggestion/recommendations
* First Aid/Emergency Contact Info

This trip is recommended for strong beginners and above. There will be trails to ride for those of all abilities. If you're new to mountain biking and fairly athletic, getting to the strong beginner level is easy - get out on some of our rides and consider taking a mountain biking class (from Total Body Fitness or REI). One of our organizers or stronger riders can let you where you're at (level-wise).

I plan on having another meeting in April, and maybe a week or two before we leave. Get the time off and reserve your cabin or campsite now!

    OK. I am going. I need a place to share costs with, since I have not made any reservations. I also live in Elk Grove, I can drive and take one person, or I need to be able to park my truck at your house if I take a ride with someone else in order to caravan. I won't mind leaving on Friday. Who is willing to take me in?
