Meet at the Starbucks in El Dorado Hills (N/E corner of Francisco Drive and Green Valley Rd across from Safeway) at 8:30am and be ready to roll by about 8:45am. We'll drive/carpool to the Salmon Falls Bridge trailhead on Salmon Falls Rd (there's not a lot of parking space). The plan is to ride the Salmon Falls (Darrington) Trail for an "out and back". I don't plan on taking the "Hill of Death" (Flagstaff) this time, but there are some hills and you should still break a good sweat. We'll take breaks as needed but they'll mostly be short - except for a snack break at the turnaround point. This is another ride that should help with your conditioning. Riders should be comfortable with their mountain bike skills (shifting, braking, etc) and be in decent shape. Ride length should be about 3 hours total (maybe more for if the pace is on the slower side. Depending on the turnout, we may split into two groups (Strong Beginner and Intermediate Plus).
Let's go for pizza at Mountain Mikes (by the Starbucks) after the ride.
Helmets are required, and I recommend gloves and drinks/snacks (water bottle or camel pack). This is not a trail for hybrid bikes and your bike should be in good mechanical condition. You should carry a spare tube and the equipment to change a flat. Please have your bike ready to go before you get there (air, chain lubricated, adjustments, etc).
Light rain will not cancel this ride, however heavy rain may cancel. Check site 2 hours before the ride to see if it is cancelled - Please call me [masked] (cell) if you have any questions.
Thanks Phred. Hope I don't fall off a cliff and get a "boo boo".
Thx Blaine. All who were on the waiting list have been added. I am sure Blaine and I will accept any help to herd the cats. If you are interested in helping lead or sweep just let us know.
I'm coming from the Auburn side so I will meet up at the trail head parking lot.
I will be driving in from Wheatland and will meet up with the group at the trailhead. I have room for one for carpooling if anybody lives in this general area (lincoln, etc...).
Absolutely. Was there any question that I would be in the back of the pack anyway??
Looks like we will be having some fun on Saturday. The trail will be wet, so please come with safety in mind. Have fun, but be cautious. Is there any folks looking to roll with the faster paced pack lead by Blaine. Just curious if folks have given it some thought.
I will try to hang with Blaine's group
@ Dannette and Paul, there is room. I know Dannette is going to give Blaine a run for his money. :o)
If I am not at Starbucks, I will be at Trailhead and I guess I am bringing Will So you better move him from wait list to yes list, as you know will he just shows up like a bad rash.
I guess if I got moved to the waitlist, Will will be getting his own transportation. Have fun on your ride
I've been moved up to the "yes" list! I'm not sure about going with the advanced group, however. Depends on how advanced they're going to be!
I want to thank Blaine for taking on leading the faster paced pack. I also would like to thank Blaine, Mike Schoellkopf, Shawn, Jeffery B. and Rob for helping every one thru the water and over the bridge. I guess the lake was higher than I expected. duh.
Just for fun... I threw together some of the pics and video I shot.
Enjoy!

Great video. Captured all the excitement, and the "hardship" of the coolest ride this year to date. I also liked the music you chose "Queen" and Freddy still rocks. Thank You
Vida good job on that video. I like the heavy breathing when you were walking through the water.
Vida your video is an unexpected bonus to the 'Epic Ride'. Two thumbs up!
Had to back search to watch, another great one, very very entertaining.
Is anyone willing to lead a faster paced group? If so, please email me and we can chat logistics. If we have two grps, then I will open the ride limit up to include all on the waiting list. Thx.
