Jenkinson Lake loop ride

Come out and join me for a fun ride around Jenkinson Lake. We will be meeting at the Hazel Ave. Light rail station ( off of Folsom Blvd just east of Hazel) at 9am to car pool up to Jenkinson Lake where we will park and start the ride on the north side of the dam. This will be a fun/leisurely ride for the strong beginner/intermediate rider ( some rocky areas on the edge of the lake), we will ride the loop around the lake with a stop at the waterfall for a break. I would like to ask if anyone would like to co-lead this with me ?

Hey, everyone! Looking forward to meeting you all. Quick question, though: As an experienced road cyclist, I know all about flat repair and nutrition, but what else should I bring with me? I've noticed that severa of you have ditched the seat bag in favor of a full backpack?

Hey Paul, speaking for myself I like to use my camelbak. I can carry plenty of water and snacks in addition to tools (tire levers, spare tube, small pump or co2, etc...) that I may need to make any necessary repairs while on the trail.

I think its just a matter of preference.

If anyone else is interested, I am considering doing the Fleming Meadows ride after this loop. This ride is around is around 8.5 miles and I believe that Fleming Meadows is another 8 miles, but with more climbing. I've never ridden it before but if anyone is interested let me know.

http://jenkinsonlake.com/biking.html then http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/documents/rogs/rog_trail... I read "hard 1.8 mile climb near the beginning followed by many sweet opportunities to get air on the way back down" -- sounds fun, but I don't think I'm strong enough to do the Meadows after the Loop without a spectacular crash ;-) Playing that one by ear.

Lezley... if you're gonna crash, it might as well be done in a SPECTACULAR fashion! Over the bars, shoes flying off, cloud of dust... WHATEVER. :)

Fleming meadows has a hard 1.8 mile climb? Dude that is one place that could really use a ski lift! I may do the Jenkinson loop a second time (maybe) once the first ride is done. We'll see how it goes, my lungs may well decide that for me...

Oops, cross-threaded a pedal on my mtb, which fell off, so I'm off the trails 'til the new crank gets here.

This is a great ride! Scenic beyond and a nice balance of technical and easy-ish.

I had a great time on this ride although there was a few mechanical issues such as Tomek's bike shifting messed up and my flat tire. Otherwise the lake was nice, trail in pretty good condition and the social time was great.

I had a fun time riding a trail that was new to me. The scenery was great riding around the lake. Couldn't have asked for nicer company. Thank you Greg for organizing/leading this ride.
