Get OUTTA TOWN Two Beavers and a Bear with a Sawtooth Kicker

Newcastle/Indian Hill Park-N-Ride (map)

Selected By: A former member

Yep it's an official trail name. Just outside of Truckee...Two Beavers and a Bear with a Sawtooth Trail kicker thrown in. This will be a fun day of mtn biking in the Truckee Northstar area. We will meet at the Park n Ride at the Indian Hill exit (right across from Dennys) 8am to carpool etc.
Check back for updates.
UPDATES: Posted June 29+++Directions: Take Hwy 267 to Brockway Dr. At the 7-11 on Brockway Dr. turn onto Ponderosa Palisades Rd. Take a right on Silverfir, a left on Thelin. The Forest Service gate will be on your right-hand side, and the trailhead starts 0.2 miles after gate. There are gravel parking lots at each of the intersections of the trail to the 06. And nearby are trails that intersect with the Northstar trail system.

Description: The Sawtooth Ridge Trail rolls through Sierra forests high above the Truckee River near Squaw Valley. Beginner and intermediate mountain bikers will love the stellar viewpoints, moderate climbs and fun rhythm. Occasional technical features keep things exciting. For a greater challenge, ride the trail in the opposite direction.

Could I please catch a ride with someone from the park-n-ride location? or I could drive and I have room for one...

Great to hear your lungs are on the mend Chris. I have been wanting to drop you a line and wish your speedy recovery. Stay outta dust for a while. Yep, you can run up with me. With the two of us...I'll be at the Prius limit for bikes. I just added some more info to the ride description. Scott C. here is your info on Trailhead.

Looks like Sawtooth is about 9 miles, Two Beavers and a Bear portion that we will do will add a little over 2 miles. So, I am guessing 2.5 to 3.5 hours on the trail. Including stops, pics and a snack. I think we will start rolling on the bikes 9:45 to 10am.

Ok.. Bad news for me. Broken ribs and a huge hemotoma on the right side will not let me participate. Looking for new ride leader for this ride. I have commented on links that you can print out. I would hate to cancel for everyone because of my misfortune.

My birthday party is this night at 5, so I have to be back in Sacramento by about 4pm. Does that sound reasonable? If so I'm in!

Bobby, it seems feasible to Just make it back by 4pm. You would expect to have a return trip from Truckee to sacro of no more than 1.5 hours. You will be allowed 4 hours of mtn bike time presuming rolling br 10:30 at the latest. Go for it.. Happy Birthday
    Nate..
may go along to send u guys off

Between H&W and Fat Tire..there are 16 doing this ride. I plan on meeting at Indian Hill at 8am as the schedule says, and I will ride up to the trailhead to get you guys going. Surgery this coming week will keep me on foot. Tracy has done the trail and will be a key person if not the lead person. I will have maps printed for all. see this link http://www.greatbasinbicycl... for directions and info on the ride.

Mike n Barb are bringing radios and Tracy will join in on leading while on the trail.
Found out what did me in so badly. My backpack/hydration pack's frame dug into my ribs n side when I endoed while casually standing on my pedals going 6 mph hitting a rock in the weeds as my focus was on the two trail riders approaching me. I was going in the opposite direction and they were coming up in the "normal direction"

Nate , you are the man. I had a blast on this trail, even with a crash. I couldn't ask for a better group of people to ride with. Thanks to everyone for making it a trip to remember.
