This is a ride thru the Sacramento Valley Conservancy. No cost. However you are required to sign a waiver. I rode this in July. A really fun ride with only a few climbs along rolling foothills. Groups for faster/more technical and for slower/less technical. NOT a beginner ride, but fine for a strong beginner. Hardtails are just fine on these trails. Meeting place is on Latrobe Rd. (near intersection of Stonehouse Rd.) where Latrobe turns to a dirt road. More details below:
Event: Mountain Biking
Start Date: Saturday, August 28, 2010
Time: 7:30am-10:00am
Location: Deer Creek Hills Preserve
You're invited to explore on your mountain bike the rolling savanna grasslands, dotted with dramatic blue oak and open vista at Deer Creek Hills.
Mountain Bike Docents will escort riders on 12 miles of significant climbing single track, cattle paths, and ranch roads. While this pastureland serves as a working cattle ranch during November through May, cattle have proven to be superb designers for single track trails!
This venue is simply great for experienced riders with knowledge of shifting to lower gears for climbing hills. This is not considered a beginners course.
All rides are no drop rides - no one will be left behind. Approximate ride time is 2 hours. Knobby tires are required for the terrain – no slick tires or road bikes allowed. Cyclists attending will be divided into groups depending upon experience with docent escorts. Bike helmets are required for all riders.
This is a FREE group ride. Please Register for ride on-line to RSVP or contact Gina Silvernale @ [masked].
All, remember you have to fill out the online rsvp that Phred posted a link to above, the lady that runs this called me last night as I asked her for info about settting up a "tour" for the high school club, anyhow, she said she didn't have rsvp's filled out for everyone that has rsvp'd here.
Once you have completed the rsvp online, then Gina will email you about the ride. She will also ask you to confirm your riding ability:
1. Advanced technical rider all terrain off-road
2. Intermediate technical, experienced climbing/decent off-road on trails
3. Fire road rider with some experience climbing and descending, non technical trails
I had a phone call from Gina (person who manages the ride registrations) and she has closed the registration as of about 9:00 last night (Thursday). Hopefullly you all have registered. The main concern she had was individuals skill level and ensuring they had enough docents to lead rides. Should be fun as it will be a nice and cool morning for a ride.
Phred -- I told Jacob he could invite only 2 more of his friends, but that I had to know ASAP as we have to fill out the registration form thingee. ...if he invites anyone they are all JV riders with the High School club, so they are experienced mountain bike racers/riders.
