This is a ride for strong beginners and up, and will take about an hour to complete. This rolling, singletrack trail has a few good climbs and it’s an out and back; so no one should get lost.
Meet: bottom of Connector (where Fuel Break and Culvert Trail starts).
Time: 6:30pm
Directions: From the Foresthill/Auburn Ravine exit, proceed on to Foresthill Road. Drive for about 3 miles, then turn Left on Lake Clementine Road. Drive 1 mile to the trail head. Park in the small parking lot or along Lake Clementine Road
Note: Please bring a mountain bike in good working condition and a HELMET! Lights are optional for those who want to extend the ride and ride FDLT or Clementine loop.
Know your bike etiquette and watch out for other riders going the opposite direction.
Ride Summary
Terrain: Rolling singletrack with a couple of hard climbs.
Distance: 7 Miles roundtrip
Rider Level: Intermediate or Strong Beginners
Description: The trail is all rolling singletrack with a descent into a ravine and the mandatory climb out. It’s full of twists and turns, and like FDLT, you have to be careful not to go too fast because the sharp turns come up quick, and with the leaves on the ground you can slide off the side.
For those of you interested in dinner after the ride, the Auburn Ale House bar has $2 taco's on Tuesdays!
Charlie, thanks for the heads up, but that's ridiculous! The State is now doing anything for $$$! That's why I prefer to park on side of Foresthill Road at one of the turn-outs and ride up the road a little if needed.
My friends (who also were ticketed) met with the head ranger. He said they can ticket anyone parked off the road within the state park. Not sure if that applies to Foresthill road (you may be too far under their radar if not in a major parking area). It also sounded like they were targeting mt. bikers - ugh! Good news is I have a friend that lives on the Canyon's edge - so be nice to me:-)
This was a lot of fun. Thanks for setting it up Claudia. It was my first time on Connector and I loved it. The beer was good too.
Be aware that State Park rangers are now issuing tickets for those parked after hours in park (currently 9 pm). Shouldn't be an issue for this ride, but I was shocked when I found a $93 ticket on my car several weeks ago.
