South Tahoe Fall Fun. Mr Toad's Armstrong and or Sidewinder. Sidewinder is 6 miles of banked turns perfect for the aspiring budding mtn biker. Sidewinder is at the end of Armstrong and Armstrong us at the end of Mr Toad's. The full ride will combine Toad's, Armstrong and Sidewinder. We won't shuttle and will get a warm up workout on paved roads climbing to the trailheads.
I will post the links to ride maps about sept 12 or so. We will meet at Bella Bru at El Dorado Hills Road and Hiway 50 at 8am.
Here's the link. If it doesn't work then go to greatbasinbicycles.com

I have 5 big moving blankets. Every other bike covered up might do the trick. ??
Yes we could use my truck. I can only carry 5 people in the cab tightly.
I'm soon to pull out my map and figure the route that is envisioned. But I am one who prefers to climb uphill rather than just barreling down. Not sure what the envisioned shuttle is...
the hammerinwheels was updated with the link a few days ago and fat tire this morning.

The shuttle would be from the bottom of sidewinder to as far to the top as we could drive. There will still be 4 miles of climb on the bike after the shuttle.
I finally read the trail descriptions...As I understand it you can now do whole ride without shuttle (Armstrong Connector???) and not have to ride the road. Since it looks like no road riding I'd like to do whole thing with no shuttle.
I am going to have to defer to Tomac on this one. I can shuttle or I guess ride to the top. My first time. I only know what is on the link I posted.
Anna, you're an animal!!
ha. well, I know I will be walking a lot on the descent, and I know it is ride-able to the top, so...let's suffer! btw, wasn't it YOUR idea in the first place, Nate, to do it without a shuttle? I was simply agreeing with you!
OK then, suffer it is. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Lack of warm weather should lessen the pain ( me thinks)
Great! We suffer for the up hill. But it will make us enjoy the downhill more and I can feel better about gorging myself afterwards! ...Anybody know a good place in south lake for the gorging afterwards.
Hi Nate, where could we meet up with the group in Tahoe? We don't need to carpool from the Bella Bru..
When I did this ride in 2000 I rode on the road to Luther Pass and then hit the trails. This looks even better doing a loop on the dirt. One note, The greatbasinbicycles link directs you to Onidas Road/Drive but on google maps it's Oneidas Street.
For those NOT meeting at Bella Bru, meet at Saxon Creek and Oneidas st. Basically turning onto Pioneer Trail (a road), 3/4 mile to Oneidas St. and about another 1 mile to Saxon Creek. There is a parking lot there. 10:00 am figuring we will leave Bella Bru at 8:30. PS coming from Sac on 50 to El Dorado Hills, turn right onto Park in the shopping center near the pizza parlor. The usual place.
I might need suggestions/help regarding no shuttle. We may change this to shuttle. Still early enough to work it out.
